Decorating the Porch -2012

Here is a close up, of the ornaments that I painted in shades of pink and blue. And it then goes without saying....glitter.glitter,and a lil more glitter...

This is the other end of the porch. I've set the table, a lot of people don't do anything with spaces like this. However, its just a blank canves ,screaming for color and displays.
And now we have light....

This looking through the other set of french doors, by the dining area...Better watch out! Santa's watching!

And just an FYI, the pinks and blues are carried through out on the wrap around porch. Do you like to use your porch as, another room, and decorate it too? Let me know what you do. And thank you for stopping by. Stop back tomorrow, I 'll be posting pics of the Parlor!

Dining Room 2012

We are continuing today with the Dining Room. I always have a tree in here, but we now have a very active fifteen month old grandson, Riggs. I decided that for his well being,  my sanity, I would fore go the 9ft grand tree in here, and put it on the porch, this way, we could all see it. Riggs can stand there in front of it, and say "ball" to his hearts content (one of his FAVORITE words), and I don't constantly have to be  saying "no", (NOT my favorite word)!!

My favorite things in here, the pink tulle, which was purchased at Goodwill, I think 7 yards for $3.00, and the balls hanging from the ceiling.

All the balls (including, the others on the roping etc) were red....yep, I painted them all. At first I painted them, let them dry, spray glue adhesive, on the ornament, and then glitter it. It took about four of them, and the light bulb went off, duh, the paint is wet, things stick to wet paint...mmmmmm....yes, it worked. I was able to cut out a step, and cut my work time in half. And seeing as I was repainting TONS of ornaments, it was a welcomed a ha moment! The string was simply thumb tacked into the ceiling and the bow tied around it.

And here's the tree from inside the Dining Room, looking out on to the porch. Its really very simple, and I think it fits the space, perfect this year. I painted these ornaments also. I was getting SO tired of painting, I went to several stores, Dollar General , Dollar Tree , etc, to just buy some blue and pink ones. First, I couldn't really find the right shades that I was looking for, and when I did, all I could kept thinking was, " I love the ones I've been making, plus they don't look like every other ornament". So short of free, I just couldn't make myself buy  more....so a painting I went.....

Every one thinks I made the branches, I'd like to take full credit for them, but no, I didn't make them, I purchased them at a garage sale this past spring. Which proves, it's never too early to be thinking of Christmas. The last point, I'd like to bring up is, this: like I said yesterday, when you pick your colors, follow through with it....  Do you find things in the summer, that you know, will be great for Christmas?  Don't forget to stop in tomorrow, I'll be showing the porch....Thank you for stopping by!

Christmas Kitchen and Breakfast Nook 2012

This is the view when walking by the drink station...looking into the Kitchen.

More PINK Santa's that were formally red...
And YES , I painted this plate! The lettering was done in red...red didn't/ wasn't what I was going after in this room....

Every year I look for somewhere different to display my vintage ornaments....this year, it is the kitchen.

What a score on the PINK marsh mellows!!!
I just KNEW this pink sugar would come in handy one day!

Well if I was painting the Santa's pink, I thought, why not glitter them as well?

Here's the nook. The roping of round ornaments was on clearance at Target last year....you know the sale.....90% off, now that's what I'm talking about~except they were all red and gold. So you guessed it, more spray paint!

The white candy canes were from the year before last , as were the pink ornaments, formally known as RED ornaments...nothing a little paint and glitter can't fix!

These I made. Why? Because I went to Michael's four times to buy them, I couldn't make myself....I TRIED! So I bought some molding clay, and did it myself....

99% of everything on this tree was spray painted, and glittered.

I don't know what year this photo was taken, but I LOVE it, it is of my mom and her two sisters, Connie and Martha. They are waiting for Santa to come down the chimney!

NOTE: The empty jars, on either side of the gingerbread men....I bought pastel candy from the Dollar General Store. It was meant as DISPLAY. DISPLAY I tell you again!!! It all looked SO cute. Then one day , I notice, the jars seem to losing candy. Well, it wasn't me, one son, has a home of his own, our daughter lives in another town, and the youngest, is away at college. So, if it wasn't any of us....it's got to be the ole hubby! Caught him red handed! I told him, it was for looks, and he replies with, " well that's the dumbest thing I've ever heard of, if you've got candy out in plain sight, it's for eating!"OMG!!!!! I don 't know what ticks me off more: him eating the display or him  not gaining one fricking pound from all that candy!!!!

I thought our five year old grandson, Jackson would be the one I had to worry about! Jackson's been trained though by me. Every time the poor child wants a cookie, or piece of candy, etc, I've told him, it's fake. So now if he sees something, he asks me , whether it's real or fake.Good huh? Poor child thinks everything in our kitchen is fake....well at least between Gramps and him, he learned not to eat Marmy's decorations!!!

And finally in the kitchen, over the chalk board, is some more candy. I fashioned the over sized "candy" from card board, toilet paper thingies.....

Does your husband eat the "displays", in the kitchen? Come back for the Dining Room pics tomorrow~
